For many fans of Pokemon, their first experience was the anime that follows Ash Ketchum and his journey to be the very best like no one ever was. Around the same time, many others were also introduced to the franchise through the original games, Pokemon Red and Blue.
From that point, fans in the west have joined fans in Japan on the Pokemon experience as it continues to grow and evolve for every generation of Pokemon and its supporters. Now, one of the most significant contributions to the medium has been the mobile game Pokemon GO by Niantic. In the game, players can catch and battle their Pokemon against other trainers in the real world!
Known for its immersive experience, players and their companions are also able to participate in community events that offer special rewards for playing. During the beginning of this month, the Dragon Week event was forced to close early due to technical difficulties. However, it looks like Niantic is making it up to the fans with a brand new Dragon Week that will begin this weekend!
With Timed Research and slightly altered tasks still available, fans will be able to receive a good amount of rewards; however, the featured wild Pokemon will not be available. We would love to hear your thoughts on the makeup event in the comments below!
Pokémon Go is a free smartphone app that combines gaming with the real world. The game uses location tracking and mapping technology to create an 'augmented reality' where players catch and train Pokémon characters in real locations.
Pokemon GO's Dragon Week will begin on August 21st at 8 am and end on August 26th at 10 pm local time!
