As exemplified by the upcoming launch of Disney+, numerous studios are pooling their resources to establish new streaming services with the hopes of matching the immense success of Netflix. Among the most notable names set to release their own service is WarnerMedia, who will launch HBO Max sometime in May 2020.
Currently, we know HBO Max will feature a number of original series that will be aimed primarily at adults, including Dune: The Sisterhood, but during WarnerMedia’s recent unveiling of its new service, the company announced several kids programs.
Among the programs officially announced was a new Looney Tunes cartoon from Warner Bros Animation and a series titled Jellystone, which will feature iconic characters from the world of Hanna-Barbera.
According to official descriptions for the two series, Pete Browngardt (Uncle Grandpa) and Sam Register will serve as executive producers on the new Looney Tunes Cartoons, which boasts a voice cast that includes Eric Bauza, Jeff Bergman and Bob Bergen. Meanwhile, Jellystone is executive produced by C.H. Greenblatt (Chowder) and Sam Register and is confirmed to "include classic characters such as Yogi Bear, Boo-Boo, Augie Doggie, Doggie Daddy, Ruff, Yakky Doodle, Shag Rugg, Jabberjaw, El Kabong, Top Cat, Captain Caveman, Cindy Bear, Mildew Wolf, Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks, Peter Potamus, Snagglepuss, Magilla Gorilla and more."
Despite sharing some major new details, it's still unclear how many episodes Jellystone will run for, but it has been confirmed that the revived Looney Tunes Cartoons will consist of 80 eleven-minute episodes.
