The trailer for Season 2 of Netflix's highly anticipated animated series
Castlevania has debuted. Executive produce Adi Shankar
first premiered the trailer at Asia Pop Con and after playing it twice for the crowd who "went nuts", Netflix has uploaded it online for all fans to enjoy.
Although the show is inspired by the classic video game series of the same name, Season 2 of
Castlevania will actually diverge away from the story told in the 1989 Nintendo classic. The blood-soaked trailer below provides a brief glimpse of what's in store for fans when
Castlevania returns to the streaming service later this year. With Dracula and his army of darkness looking to exact his revenge on mankind and rid the Earth of all humans, Trevor, Alucard, and Sypha clearly will have their hands full in trying to stop him.
We don't have a specific synopsis for Season 2, but Netflix's description for the
Castlevania animated series reads:
"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar."
As previously announced,
Castlevania Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on October 26. It will double the episode count of the first season and offer fans eight full episodes of blood and carnage. Actor Richard Armitage, who voices the main antihero Trevor Belmont, recently
revealed plans for a third season, although Netflix has yet to officially comment on that.
