Netflix days as reigning unchallenged are over thanks to the rise of Disney+, Apple TV and HBO Max. Already, the launch of Disney+ has resuled in a drop in Netflix share prices. To combat this new threat, Netflix has revealed that they've agreed to a multi-year deal wth Nickelodeon to produce animated flms and shows from Nickelodeon's library of active and inactive IPs.
Nickelodoen Vice-President Melissa Cobb stated, "Nickelodeon has generated scores of characters that kids love, and we look forward to telling wholly original stories that re-imagine and expand on the worlds they inhabit. We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with Brian Robbins, Ramsey Naito, and the creative team at Nickelodeon in new ways as we look to find fresh voices and bring bold stories to our global audience on Netflix."
No further details on the deal were announced but it will certainly be interesting to see how quickly (and how many) projects are produced. One rumor that's arisen fairly quickly is that Netflx has a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series in development. While a solid idea on paper, that rumor remains unconfirmed for now.
