Marvel's What If...? is an upcoming animated series that will be coming to Disney+ in 2020. It will retell the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — that's the likes of Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and more.

The cast of the films will be reprising their roles in What If...?. Hayley Atwell, the actress who played Agent Peggy Carter in the Captain America films, recently discussed the upcoming animated series and specifically talked about an episode which will feature her character at the center.

“So What If...?, the premise is, what if a crucial point changed, what would the consequences be?" Atwell first explained to Extra Butter what the series is all about. The actress then explained that her episode will twist the events of Captain America: The First Avenger.

"And in my episode, it’s if Peggy Carter became Captain Carter. She takes the serum, and Steve Rogers remains Steve Rogers, and she gets to pick up the shield and go on the adventure. So it’s a very different light that we’re seeing her in.” Atwell then stated that, despite being animated, What If...? is beautiful and emotive.

“It’s a beautiful aesthetic, what they’ve done, and they’ve matched a lot of my vocal performance to then creating the animation. So you see a lot of her emotional reactions in the animation,” Atwell said. “So it doesn’t feel like it’s too kind of unrealistic or too cartoony, it just feels like it’s a beautiful tone that they’ve found with her.”

Marvel's What If...? will debut on Disney+ in 2020.
