It seems as though
Cartoon Network has chosen to make an unexpected move into the hospitality world, and their first endeavor appears to be in Lancaster, Pennsylvania - where they plan to build a first-of-its-kind interactive hotel experience for children and fans of
Cartoon Network and
Adult Swim.
Cartoon Network is the major children's cable station that is responsible for shows like
Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, as well as the
Adult Swim side of things which is responsible for more mature programming such as
Robot Chicken and Rick And Morty. The station announce on Tuesday that they will be working with Palace Entertainment, which already owns more than 20 amusement parks across Australia and the United States to bring a nine-acre destination to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
"Through a combination of character animation and creative technology, the entire property will offer fun and expected ways to experience the animated worlds of Cartoon Network from the moment of arrival.
Here's where it really gets interesting, though. Guests will be able to customize and alter their particular experiences based on their favorite shows and get lost exploring in the interactive lobby. In addirion there will also be outdoor attractions, which include an outdoor aphitheater for screenings, lawn games and fire pits, a resort style pool and water play zones. If you prefer the indoors, there is also an indoor pool, kids play area, game room, and Cartoon Network Store.
"With just the right mix of technology, design, and animation, we're aiming to bring our characters to life in a way that we haven't seen done before. We can't wait to be part of many family vacations with the ultimate Cartoon Network experience." - Christina Miller, Cartoon Network-Adult Swim-Boomerang President
The ambitious project is currently underway and is able to be seen under construction near the Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park along the commercial leg of Route 30. The Cartoon Network Hotel is expected open in Summer 2019 which will be here before we know it.
