In August of this year, Disney announced that they were working on a Star Wars Holiday Special. Before you get your panties in a bunch, this is not going to be the same kind of special that avid Star Wars fans remember from the late '70s, as this will be animated, and part of the LEGO Star Wars series.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will be taking place after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, and will see Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose, and everyone's favourite droids coming together to celebrate Life Day, but some characters from the past will also make an appearance.
Yes, there is time travel involved, as Rey will find herself meeting characters like Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda, and even Darth Vader, amongst other iconic heroes and villains from the popular Star Wars franchise; all of this in classic, and charming LEGO fashion.
LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is expected to premiere on Tuesday the 17th of November through Disney+, which is just in time for Life Day. Yes, the canon/not-canon festivity that was first introduced in the notorious, albeit beloved Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978.
Today, Disney has announced some great news for fans of the iconic Star Wars franchise, as they reveal that Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Daniels will reprise the roles of Rose, Lando Calrissian, and C-3PO in LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special.
Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Daniels are the only actors from the live-action movies that have been confirmed to reprise their roles, although the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will still see veteran Star Wars franchise actors reprising their roles, such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars series actors Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Tom Kane as Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Dee Bradley Baker as the Clone Troopers.
As Disney+ celebrates the announcement that Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, and Anthony Daniels are playing Rose, Lando, and C-3PO again, Disney+ has given us our first look at the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special key art, which is a thoughtful present from Darth Vader to Luke, as well as some other screenshots.
