Invincible wrapped up its first season this week, but fans of the adult animated series will be happy to know that Amazon has already renewed it for another two seasons. Season 2 and Season 3 will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, but no dates were announced.

Amazon's Invincible is based on the comic series of the same name by Robert Kirkman. The series revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson, voiced by Steven Yeun. Grayson is like any other normal teenager except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). Shortly after his 17th birthday, Grayson begins to develop powers of his own. Under the tutelage of his father, he starts to realize the harsh realities of being a superhero and that his father's legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.

“I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible,” said Kirkman. “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory (Walker) and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.”

Season 1 of Invincible received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. It boasts a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 91% audience score. The critics' consensus reads: "With bold animation, bloody action, and an all-star cast led by the charming Steven Yeun, Invincible smartly adapts its source material without sacrificing its nuanced perspective on the price of superpowers."

Invincible is a crowning example of how a fresh and edgy approach to the superhero genre can resonate with audiences around the globe and we’re so glad that Invincible, one of our earliest investments in the adult animation genre, has accomplished just that,” added Vernon Sanders, Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios. “Robert’s no-holds-barred storytelling coupled with a first-class voice cast delivered on fans’ wildest expectations and we’re thrilled to be giving them more Invincible.”

Invincible Season 1 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
