2021 has been a massive year for animated DC Comics films, and there are still more to come. Having already released Batman: Soul of the Dragon, Justice Society: World War II, Teen Titans Go! See Space Jam, Batman: The Long Halloween Part I, and its sequel Batman: The Long Halloween Part II, another title is set to drop this month.

Two animated films are already announced for 2022 in the form of DC League of Super-Pets and Catwoman: Hunted, but before then, fans will be treated to a much darker storyline - that of Injustice.

Mortal Kombat and Netherrealms Studios fans will recognize Injustice immediately as a video game title with an extremely dark presence. Adapting the story of the game as well as the comic books based on the same plotline, the images and trailer footage make it clear that the animated film won't be shying away from the gory source material in the least.

In the multiple tweets above, you can see a gallery of images that have been shared promoting the animated film. While there are a lot of interesting character details to be found here, the image of Superman punching a hole through The Joker is undoubtedly the most jaw-dropping and heart-stopping - pun intended.

What do you guys think of these images? Are you excited to check out Injustice this month, or will you be skipping the title in anticipation of the DC League of Super-Pets? Regardless of your take, be sure to check out the trailer and synopsis for the film below and as always, share your thoughts in the usual spot!

An unthinkable tragedy propels Superman into a dangerous new mindset, ultimately pitting Justice League members against each other in Injustice, an all-new DC Animated Movie, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Inspired by Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios’ popular video game, and the best-selling DC graphic novel based on the video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One by Tom Taylor, the animated film Injustice finds an alternate world gone mad - where The Joker has duped Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the Man of Steel on a deadly rampage.

Unhinged, Superman decides to take control of the Earth for humanity’s own good. Determined to stop him, Batman creates a team of like-minded, freedom-fighting heroes. But when Super Heroes go to war, can the world survive?

Injustice releases on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and Digital on October 19th, 2021.
