Since the 90s, the rock band The Smashing Pumpkins has been creating music that is not only great to listen to but plays with complex ideas and forces the listener to look a little deeper into things. Still making music, lead singer Billy Corgan is going all out on the marketing for his new album, Cyr.

The 20 track epic is set to release in late November, and according to him, "Cyr is dystopic folly,” also adding that the story is “One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped-up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.” To help create a clear message, Corgan has decided to make a five-part animated series that tells a story within the album.

Written by Corgan and animated by Deep Sky, In Ashes is a unique adventure into a world of possibility, with the songs of the new album sprinkled throughout. While there is no official synopsis released, a sneak peek was released that shows the type of vibe the series hopes to capture.

The first two episodes will be coming later this month, and the other three will most likely be leading up to the album's release on November 27th. Make sure to check out the trailer below, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
