Apple TV+ is getting another kids program set to exclusively hit its airwaves early next month. The family-focused program, El Deafo, focuses on Cece, a perceptive young child facing something that about one out of a thousand children face and about 15 percent of school-age children endure -- hearing loss.
El Deafo sees the protagonist as she sees her hearing aids as something of a super power and that she is now a superhero to cope with the potential hinderance caused by losing her hearing, all the while making friends along the way at her school.
This Apple Original 2D animated series features many seasoned and fresh talent including the likes of Finigan, Bob's Burgers' Pamela Adlon, Glee's Jane Lynch, and StarTalk's Chuck Nice. Meanwhile Apple took the time to touch base with indie musician, Waxahatchee, for the theme song behind the brand-new trailer.
Behind the scenes, The Adventures of Pete & Pete's Will McRobb is the series' executive producer and writer alongside the book's author, Cece Bell, who also acts as the show's narrator. Claire Finn is the co-executive producer for Lighthouse Studios while Bob the Builder's Gilly Fogg directs. Music-wise, Mike Andrews is the show's composer, but Waxahatchee figurehead, Katie Crutchfield, is also working alongside him to offer some original music.
