As he shares during the first part of this conversation, he was certainly aware of the import of the Sonic character, commenting, "Outside of Sonic and Mario, I can't think of two more worldwide recognizable characters that a lot of people, of any age range are aware of. I always laugh and say that I'm only as good or as legitimate if somebody finds out what I do for a living as anything they've ever heard of."
Obviously they're very aware of Sonic, as they are of the fact that he voiced the character of Captain America in a variety of animated Marvel projects, from TV shows to made-for-video films; and Batman, have starred in the video game Arkham: Origins and a series of made-for-video films under the umbrella title Batman Unlimited. And that awareness continued to grow when he took on the character of Etzio in Assassin's Creed and Chris Redfield in Resident Evil.
Roger also points to 2013 as the year where everything seemed to come together. He points out, "I would say when I think of a time where my career popped, was when we had the premiere of Avengers Assemble [in which he voiced Cap] on DisneyXD, we had the release of Disney's Planes in which I was the bad guy, Rip Slinger; and then in October we had Batman: — Arkham: Origins, the video game."
