After three full seasons, HBO's adult animated comedy series Animals has officially been canceled. The series aired its final episode earlier this month on October 5 and only managed to pull in 200,000 linear viewers in Live+same day.
Animals was created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano and primarily followed the lives of several downtrodden animals in New York City. It also featured a number of live-action scenes that focused on human characters.
Despite garnering a small number of same-day viewers, the show consistently attracted A-list guests, including Jessica Chastain (Molly's Game), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jonah Hill (Maniac), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Infinity War) and Judy Greer (Kidding)
The HBO series was executive produced by the Duplass Brothers, and the animation for the show was created with Dan Harmon’s Starburns Industries.
