A new comedy in the vein of adult animation has emerged this week on FOX and Hulu.
Duncanville is created by Amy Poehler
(SNL, Parks and Recreation) with a strong creative and production team behind her with credits that include everything from
The Simpsons to
Bojack Horseman. In addition, Poehler also lends her voice to the two main characters - the titular Duncan and his mother. This is similar to the tactic in
Rick and Morty which sees co-creator Justin Roiland voice both title characters.
In addition to the double duty being pulled by Amy Poehler the remainder of the voice cast is bursting with talent such as Ty Burrell
(Modern Family), Riki Lindhome
(Garfunkel and Oates), Yassir Lester
(Black Monday), Rashida Jones
(The Office), Joy Osmanski
(Stargirl), and Wiz Khalifa
(Mack and Devin Go to High School).
Duncanville utilizes the traditional sitcom-style family formula with its characters, though the feel of the show is remniscent of
Futurama and
Big Mouth. This makes sense considering Mike Scully
(The Simpsons), the producer of
Duncanville, was involved in the former while the latter is created by Nick Kroll
(The League), who exists on the same planet in the comedy universe as creator Amy Poehler.
We've included both trailers for the new series below as well as the synopsis for you to check out. Also, in a few days we will be posting our exclusive interview with Yassir Lester, a member of
Duncanville's main voice cast as Yangzi, one of Duncan's closest friends. He is credited for 13 episodes so we are excited to share his perception on the show and any trivia he might have for us. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming days and check out the trailers below!
