As Disney Plus looks to dethrone Netflix, the early numbers for the streaming platform certainly look promising. After launching on November 12, the platform ended 2019 with 26.5 million paid subscribers and has added 2.1 million new subscriptions since January. That's still a ways behind Netflix, which boasts 68 million subscribers in North America and 167 million worldwide.
However, Disney+ is bundled with Disney's other streaming options, Hulu (30.7 million subscribers) and ESPN (7.6 million subscribers). That gives Disney a combined 66.9 million subscribers in North America, which is certainly within striking distance of Netflix.
Upcoming animated and live-action remakes set to debut on Disney+ in 2020 include:
-
a new Chip 'n' Dale shorts,
-
101 Dalmatian Street
-
The Proud Family season 3
-
season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
-
the Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe animated movie
-
a Peter Pan and Wendy live-action film
