Netflix announced today that Matt Groening's new comedy-fantasy series,
Disenchantment, will premiere on the streaming service on August 17. They also provided a batch of images showing off the new animated show, which features an art style similar to
The Simpsons and
Futurama. Of course, that shouldn't come as a huge surprise as Groening is the creator of both of those award-winning shows.
The images show some of
Disenchantment's main characters, including the hard-drinking princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her elf friend Elfo (Nat Faxon), and Bean's personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). The rest of the voice cast includes John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. The animation is being handled by Rough Draft Studios (
Futurama).
The official synopsis reads:
In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
Disenchantment will launch on Netflix on August 17 with a 10-episode season.
