The second season of
Castlevania will debut on Netflix later this year. Writer Warren Ellis took to Twitter this past week to update fans on the status of the Netflix animated series. Although it was
originally expected to return this summer, Ellis sort of explained that the shift in its release was out of his hands.
Ellis reiterated that the second season will consist of eight episodes, doubling the episode count of the show's four-episode first season which debuted on the streaming service on July 7, 2017. It was renewed for an expanded second season on the same day. Although fans are still waiting on the second season, actor Richard Armitage, who voices the main antihero Trevor Belmont, recently
revealed plans for a third season, although Netflix has yet to officially comment on that.
As for the second season, Ellis teased that the series will shift from the source material. Armitage revealed that ti will primarily focus on the relationship between Trevor and Adrian Tepes, Dracula's deadly son Alucard.
Hopefully, the wait isn't too much longer. Ellis said fans will definitely be given plenty of warning on when the show will return for its sophomore season on Netflix, so keep an eye out.
