A new trailer recently dropped for Marvel and Disney XD's upcoming animated series Marvel Rising: Initiation - which debuts on August 13th.
Check out the brand new trailer below:
The Marvel Comics-based cartoon series features iconic characters such as: Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider (Dove Cameron), Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Kathleen Khavari), Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl (Milana Vayntrub), Rayshaun Lucas/Patriot (Kamil McFadden), and Daisy Johnson/Quake (Chloe Bennet).
Marvel Director of Content Sana Amanat had this to say on why the show came to be:
It came out of a desire to be able to tell stories about characters that we think are the next great heroes of the Marvel Universe. I think it's incredibly important that we tell young women and young girls that they have this incredible power within themselves, and that they have heroes out there [who] ... they can look up to, especially in these times.
Kathleen Khavari, who plays Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel has this to say in regards to the shows representation:
To have this brown girl who's a Muslim, who's a superhero, who doesn't fall under these stereotypes ... [and] is just a good, decent human being who wants to bring that out in other people — I feel really fortunate to be able to portray her.
We're in for a ton more infor about Marvel Rising: Initiation as the series has is very own dedicated panel at next week's Sand Diego Comic-Con event. Bennet, Vayntrub, Khavari, McFadden, writer Mairghread Scott will all be present.
