An update on the second season of Invincible is expected to be released before the end of January 2023, according to a tweet from the official Invincible Twitter account that stated, "So... this is the last month we won't have a Season 2 update for you."
This news follows an interview with Amazon's Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, who stated that the second season was on the platform's schedule for 2023, but did not specify a specific release date. In September 2022, voice actor Khary Payton confirmed that the third season of the show was already in production, saying "we finished Season 2, we're on to Season 3," though he cautioned that it was difficult to predict release dates due to the backlog of work at animation studios, adding "There was literally a line for the really great studios to just get this work out. So, I honestly can't tell you."
There is also a possibility that other Invincible-related news may be announced in the near future, as a live-action movie adaptation of the series is reportedly still in development.
The show's creator, Robert Kirkland, previously confirmed that the adaptation was in the works, and Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, who previously collaborated on the superhero project The Boys for Amazon Prime Video, are attached as writers, directors, and producers. The two originally announced their involvement in the production of an Invincible movie back in 2017.
The first season of the Invincible animated series, which follows the story of Mark Grayson as he learns to use his inherited powers to become a superhero and explores his relationships with his family and the larger superhero community, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
The animated adaptation of Invincible is based upon the comic book series of the same name. The comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. The comic book series follows the story of Mark Grayson, a teenager who inherits superpowers from his alien father and becomes a superhero. The series explores the relationships between Mark and his family, including his father Omni-Man, and the larger superhero community. The comic book series is known for its engaging storylines, well-developed characters, and action-packed illustrations.
