While the Internet video service is well-known for their popular drama shows, including Transparent and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Amazon has been expanding their kids’ programming over the past year. As a result, a popular children’s book will be making the leap from the page to our computer screens in the new Amazon Original series Pete the Cat.

Pete the Cat is an upbeat, music-based children's series that views the world through an optimistic lens. Unlike his forerunning cartoon cat Garfield, Pete can make any situation positive and cheery. He encourages kids to be inquisitive, caring, and to embrace what makes them unique. Amazon recently announced that the series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, September 21st.

Here is the show’s official synopsis:

“Based on The New York Times #1 best-selling children’s books, Pete the Cat is a fun, musically driven series about exploring your world and trying new things; while being smart, accepting, and optimistic. Whether you’re making new friends, or facing all of life’s ups and downs, Pete highlights the groovy lessons life can teach you.”

In the new series, Pete the Cat will be voiced by Jacob Tremblay (Room), and his Mother and Father will be voiced by the Grammy Award-winning musicians Diana Krall and Elvis Costello. The series will also debut original music by the two musicians, which can also be listened to through Amazon Music. Other actors who will voice characters in the series include Jessica Biel (The Sinner), Atticus Shaffer (The Middle), and musician KT Tunstall. The holiday special, Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year is available to watch now on Amazon.

The Amazon Prime Video series is based off of the The New York Times #1 best-selling children’s book series Pete the Cat written and illustrated by James Dean. Pete the Cat has been featured in over 40 children’s books and has been translated into 14 languages across the world.

Pete the Cat will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video come September 21st! The trailer for Season 1 can be viewed here
