The Fleischerverse, as noted in this video, is made up of a number of different elements, including Fleischer & The Group, Media Geek & The Glass Onion, and The Four from F.A.B. This is a combination of comic strips, illustrated fiction and, on occasion, animated shorts. All of which is being presented with the permission of Nate Best (just in case anyone wsa wondering why comic strips were on Toonado).
The Fleischerverse began about 15 years ago when I kicked off the Media Geek & Friends comic strip, and one of his buddies was a Superman-like (if Superman was oblivious and completely lacked common sense) character named Fleischer, who, in my mind, quickly became the main focus. Besides comic strips, he’s also featured in a rewrite of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, in which Dorothy Gale is out, Fleischer is in and the land of Oz has to deal with the repercussions. The novel is finished and final illustrations are being done as these words are written.
What follows is a transcript of Admiral McDowall’s little chat in the animated trailer — his voice is going to sound very familiar to fans of Planet of the Apes — as well as a sample of Media Geek & The Glass Onion and Fleischer and The Group. I hope you enjoy it.
“Greetings, humans. I am Admiral McDowall and this is the Fleischerverse. It is an expansive world that features Fleischer, the superhero without a clue. Plus members of The Group, including Shatman, Spocky, Noir Dragon, Catman, Former Black Panther and Al. Oh, and let us not forget the simply unforgettable Countess Can’t Stop Em from Floppin.
"Then there are the multiverse adventures of Media Geek and friends, who use the Glass Onion to travel to different worlds, eras and realities. Joining MG are girlfriend Eileen, friend Timmy Tribble and my cousin Roddy. Fleischer occasionally pops in to cause chaos. And, of course, destruction. There is always lots of destruction where Fleischer is concerned.
“If spies are your thing, enjoy the comical adventures of the Four from Fab, a moptop quartet who managed to save the world at the same time they were conquering it back in the 1960s. And it is a parody. Tell your lawyers to back off!
“And because we cannot escape Fleischer, no matter how hard we try, there is also his adventures with the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion and more than a barrel of winged monkeys in the illustrated novel Fleischer and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
“We hope you will join us for all of this and more. And always remember to embrace your inner moron.”
