Netflix debuted the first teaser for
7Seeds, an upcoming anime series based on the popular Japanese manga written and illustrated by Yumi Tamura.
Originally slated to arrive in April on the streaming service, Netflix delayed 7 Seeds until June, but now we can at least get our first look at the adaptation.
7Seeds is set in a post-apocalyptic future in which a meteorite has struck Earth, wiping out all living organisms, including mankind. In order to prevent humanity's extinction, however, the government created Project "7Seeds," in which five sets of seven young men and women were selected and placed into teams (Spring, Summer A, Summer B, Autumn, and Winter). Without being told what would happen, each group was placed in cryogenic sleep and scattered in different locations.
After a computer determines Earth is once again safe for human life, each group is awakened and and the struggle for human survival begins.
Natsu awakens to a post-apocalyptic world, only to learn that she'd been cryogenically frozen as part of a program to ensure the survival of humanity.
7 Seeds is animated by Gonzo and directed by Yukio Takahashi, with Touko Machida handling series composition, and Youko Satou designing the characters. Netflix says the series is coming "soon," with previous reports claiming a June 2019 premiere on the streaming service.
