Some people might refer to Space Jam: A New Legacy as a two-hour-long advertisement for Warner Bros properties, and while they wouldn't be wrong, it's pretty on the nose with what to expect from a Space Jam flick.
As expected, the film features several worlds, including Game of Thrones' Westeros, Wonder Woman's Themiscyra, Harry Potter's Hogwarts, and more. Spoiler: Lebron's a Hufflepuff.
One of the worlds not expected to collide with the Loony Tunes universe in Space Jam: A New Legacy is Rick and Morty. Despite that, a short cameo including both characters and a strange interaction with the Tazmanian Devil takes place roughly halfway through the film.
"We're done running tests on your badger thing," Rick says, returning Taz to the others. "Turns out its condition is irreversible," he explains, with Morty interrupting loudly, yelling, "I'll never erase what I saw from my brain!" Then, finally, Rick gleefully leaves them with, "he's your problem now, dumb-dumbs."
We were able to find a high-res version of the clip on Youtube and have shared it with you below, so be sure to check it out for yourself as words can't fully do it justice.
What do you guys think of this cameo and the movie in general? Regardless, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual spot, and make sure to check out our exclusive video interview with Summer Smith voice actress Spencer Grammer below!
Spencer Grammer is in the house! The actress and voice performer behind Rick & Morty's Summer Smith stops by the show to talk about the character now that she's voiced her for a decade! We dig deep into Summer's character arc and how a mixture of her own personality and the writing helped lend to that growth.
Discussing which characters she'd like to see re-visit the show, we shared plenty of laughs about Bucket Head, Snowball, Summer's ex, and more. We joke about a potential crossover where she finds her ex-boyfriend in the Solar Opposites wall and what dimension Summer would choose to visit with Rick's portal gun - The Neverending Story.
Talk turns to her father, Frasier and X-Men star Kelsey Grammer, and we discuss why he doesn't watch Rick and Morty, and we even cook up a jestful scheme that would see the actor play Summer's father from a different dimension, as Frasier. Spencer shares tidbits about her decade of experience with the show and makes it clear that she has no plans to leave the character of Summer behind, as well as talking to us about a few of her other projects.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is streaming on HBO Max while new episodes of Rick and Morty air Sundays at 11 pm on Adult Swim.
