EARWIG AND THE WITCH Gets Official Theater And Streaming Dates

GKIDS has announced both theater and streaming dates for the upcoming 3D animated feature Earwig and the Witch and it's right around the corner!

GKIDS, the distributor behind the likes of Spirited Away, My neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and more, has announed that they will be releasing Studio Ghibli's upcoming feature Earwig and the Witch in both theaters and on streaming services next month. The home release will follow in the spring.

Earwig and the Witch will land in theaters on February 3 and will include both Japanese subtitled and English dubbed versions. It will appear in select theaters nationwide through Fathom Events and other independent theater circuits. The film will land on HBO Max two days later, February 5th. HOBO Max just happens to be the exclusive US streaming servie for the Studio Ghibli catalog.

This latest film from japan's Studio Ghibli is directed by Goro Miyazaki (From Up on Poppy Hill, Tales from Earthsea) and is produced by studio co-founder Toshio Suzuki. Earwig and the Witch is the first CGI animated feature film by Studio Ghibli and is the first feature film to be produced in the last four years.

The recently announced English voice cast for Earwig and the Witch includes Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Gosford Park), Kacey Musgraves (Golden Hour, Same Trailer Different Park) and Dan Stevens (Eurovision Song Contest: The Sotry of Fire Saga, FX's Legion). "Earwig" will be voiced by Taylor Paige.

Six-time Grammy Award winner Kacey Musgraves will voice "Earwig's Mother", as well as sing the English language version of the film's theme song, "Don't Disturb Me."

Growing up in an orphanage in the British countryside, Earwig has no idea that her mother had magical powers. Her life changes dramatically when a strange couple takes her in, and she is forced to live with a selfish witch. As the headstrong young girl sets out to uncover the secrets of her new guardians, she discovers a world of spells and potions, and a mysterious song that may be the key to finding the family she has always wanted.
