RATATOUILLE: THE TIKTOK MUSICAL Raises Over $1 Million For The Actor's Fund

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical, an internet meme-turned-Broadway fundraiser, raised over $1 million towards The Actor's Fund, a charity that supports performers and behind-the-scenes workers.

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical has raised over $1 million towards The Actor's Fund charity. The hit "musical sensation," which is based on the popular Pixar film Ratatouille, began as a simple meme on the social media app TikTok.

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical was born out of various musical parodies posted to TikTok, but can be traced back to Emily Jacobson's "Ode to Remy" video in which she sang a couple of high-pitched lines tributing Remy, the rat protagonist in the Pixar film with dreams of being a chef. From that sparked Daniel Mertzlufft's Broadway-inspired take on the song. Soon after, songwriters, singers, choreographers, and composers -- including Broadway's Andrew Barth Feldman (Dear Evan Hanson)  started to collaborate within the app until Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical was formed.

Seaview Productions helped put together a filmed concert version of the musical. The cast was comprised of the original TikTok video creators along with numerous celebrities, including Wayne Brady as Django, Tituss Burgess as Remy, Kevin Chamberlin as Gusteau, Andrew Barth Feldman as Linguini, Adam Lambert as Emile, Priscilla Lopez as Mabelle, Ashley Park as Colette, André De Shields as Anton Ego, Owen Tabaka as Young Anton Ego, and Mary Testa as Skinner.

The musical is closely aligned with the plot of Pixar's film, following Remy, the ambitious and culinarily savvy rat, as he uses the hopeless chef Linguini to make his dream of becoming a great chef come true. Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical debuted on January 1, 2021, with proceeds from ticket sales for the special event benefitting The Actor's Fund.

The musical is currently available to purchase on-demand until January 1 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The video, unfortunately, can only be watched on-demand through January 1 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
