In Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse, Lex Luthor wields an ancient Kryptonian power and unites the world's supervillains to capture the DC Universe's heroes. With only the fan-favourite DC Super Hero Girls left to stop the Legion of Doom, the team must cross dimensions to rescue their fellow superheroes from the Phantom Zone, but a fortuitous wrong turn leads them to Titans Tower...where they find much-needed allies in the iconic Teen Titans!
Last week, we spoke to Kari Wahlgren about her roles as Zatanna and Star Sapphire in the animated adventure, and while you can read the full interview at ComicBookMovie.com tomorrow, we wanted to share some of the actor's comments about her two key roles in Adult Swim's Rick and Morty.
In that, Kari lends her voice to the girl of Morty's dreams, Jessica, and Rick's Computer. She's actually played a number of characters across the course of 31 episodes, but those are her two main roles, and we couldn't help but wonder what it's been like to see the show take off in such a big way.
"It’s been very surreal, honestly. You never know how the projects you work on are going to be received. I just think to myself, ‘I’m very glad to be working,'" Kari tells us. "With each job, I do the best I can and then move on because you just never know. So, to have done this little project called Rick & Morty and then to see it snowball into this huge thing is kind of crazy."
"I’ve just got back from a trip to Italy and someone walked past me in an Italian restaurant with a Rick & Morty t-shirt on," she added. "I never could have imagined how big it could get."
We had to ask whether there's anything she can share about her future in Rick and Morty (we've only seen ten of the seventy new episodes ordered by Adult Swim), but Kari kept schtum. "You never know. I am just grateful for what I’ve done up to this point and, after that, I can say nothing!"
Needless to say, we can't wait to see more Rick and Morty and hope the latter one days gets the girl! With his grandfather around, though, that's probably gonna be easier said than done...
Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse is available on Digital, Blu-ray & DVD on May 24. The movie event also premieres on Cartoon Network on May 28 and starts streaming on HBO Max beginning June 28!
