The zaniness of Rick and Morty makes it so that anything can happen. With infinite Ricks and Mortys, the two titular characters can appear in any fashion in any place and not break canon for the series.
Adult Swim and series creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have used this to their advantage in many ways. In marketing alone, the troublemakers have shown up in ad campaigns for special Pringles flavors, a Pickle Rick frosty, and most recently, the Morty's/Wendy's crossover.
Additionally, Adult Swim likes to take the opportunity to allow different creatives to lend their voice to the characters and series with shorts. Samurai and Shogun and Rick and Morty vs. Genocider are two examples, and they are now joined by the brand new Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil). The latter hails from Tower of God director Takashi Sano and bears a distinct anime vibe.
Check out Rick And Morty: Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil) below.
The official synopsis for the short reads Summer’s new boyfriend isn’t human, Jerry’s in big trouble as usual, and Rick is well… just being Rick. Don’t miss the new Rick and Morty short, Summer meets God, from Takashi Sano, acclaimed director of the Tower of God series.
What do you guys think of this short? While it is hardly the first of its kind to take place in the Rick and Morty multiverse, it's certainly an interesting aesthetic to explore.
Regardless, let us know your thoughts in the usual spot, and make sure to check out our exclusive video interview with Summer Smith voice actress Spencer Grammer below!
Spencer Grammer is in the house! The actress and voice performer behind Rick & Morty's Summer Smith stops by the show to talk about the character now that she's voiced her for a decade! We dig deep into Summer's character arc and how a mixture of her own personality and the writing helped lend to that growth.
Discussing which characters she'd like to see re-visit the show, we shared plenty of laughs about Bucket Head, Snowball, Summer's ex, and more. We joke about a potential crossover where she finds her ex-boyfriend in the Solar Opposites wall and what dimension Summer would choose to visit with Rick's portal gun - The Neverending Story.
Talk turns to her father, Frasier and X-Men star Kelsey Grammer, and we discuss why he doesn't watch Rick and Morty, and we even cook up a jestful scheme that would see the actor play Summer's father from a different dimension, as Frasier. Spencer shares tidbits about her decade of experience with the show and makes it clear that she has no plans to leave the character of Summer behind, as well as talking to us about a few of her other projects.
Watch all-new episodes of Rick and Morty Sundays at 11 pm on Adult Swim.
