Recently, The Simpons paid homage to Genndy Tartakovsky's (Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab) Primal in an episode titled episode titled, Clan of The Cave Mom, as part of the show's remarkable 35th season.
Tartakovsky too to Instagram to share his amazement, calling the surprise "surreal." He also shared his own sketch of Homer Simpson.
After two seasons and 20 episodes, Tartakovsky confirmed that Fang and Spear's story was over at the 2023 Annecy Film Festival, and that the show would shit to an anthology format, inspired by the second season episode, The Primal Theory.
There hasn't been much news on the third season since Adult Swim confirmed that it was in the works, a likely indicator that it's not that far along in production.
The President of Adult Swim, Michael Ouweleen, previously stated, "Most shows would have a hard time continuing after the main character is killed off, but this isn't most shows. Leave it to Genndy and team to keep us all in suspense as 'Primal' continues its adventure."
President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, Sam Register, added, "When Genndy says he is not finished with 'Primal,' our only job is to do everything possible to support that vision and give him the opportunity to tell more incredible and imaginative stories. I can't wait to see where he takes us next."
Since its inception, Primal has won 2 Annie awards and 5 Emmy Awards, to date. With a third season in development, it's likely that more accolades are in the show's near future.
