RICK AND MORTY - SEASON 4 REVIEW: Things Come Together With The Latest Season Of The Emmy Winning Series

With the release of the latest season of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty, things are about to get even more hilarious this fall season! Hit the jump to hear my thoughts on the new season!

Coming hot off of its recent Emmy win, Rick and Morty Season 4 has officially hit shelves, and fans couldn't be happier! Recently, I had the opportunity to check the season out and share some thoughts on the most recent outing of the dysfunctional duo, and there is definitely a lot to say!

With so much left unsaid by the end of the third season, Rick and Morty Season 4 has a lot to answer for. Thankfully it takes full advantage of story over shock value, making sure to let the jokes land while also allowing the important things to sit and stew for however long it may need (the finale is where a lot of the season 3 ideas begin to pay off). Because of this, this season is the most cohesive yet! With stand out episodes like The Old Man and the Seat and Star Morty: Ricktum of the Jerri, this season added the further complexity of season 3 with the gut-busting humor of the first two seasons.

The special features are amazing on their own, as well, with inside looks at every single episode and featurettes that cover everything from the invention of Snake Jazz to the process of creating the props for the show. Quite possibly, the best special feature was a 3D animated anime short called Samurai and Shogun, which places a samurai Rick in a bloody predicament against alternate reality ninja Ricks.

Adult Swim even there in an awesome Funko Pop of Rick sitting on his toilet throne with the King of $#!+ crown. The collectible even has sound; however, rather than the monologue that is heard in the episode, its mostly fart sounds (which is still pretty hilarious)! To hear more thoughts, on the episode before the final score, check out the latest episode of LiteraryJoe's Inner Child Podcast, where we discuss the new season in more detail; also, don't forget to share your thoughts on the show in the comments below!

Hitting its stride, Rick and Morty Season 4 has enough heart to keep old fans invested and consistently wacky ideas to bring in new fans. It truly looks like the Golden Age of the series is here, and each episode all keeps you invested all the way to the gut-punching ending that fans will be all too familiar with. Whether a new viewer or an old one, season 4 is a must-watch for dark referential humor and deep ideas you wouldn't see coming.

Rick and Morty Season 4 10/10

The series follows the misadventures of cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his good-hearted but fretful grandson Morty Smith, who split their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures. ... The series has been acclaimed by critics for its originality, creativity and humor.
