Feminism? If that’s your jam, then you’ll probably want to know more about the Netflix original cartoon, Tuca & Bertie. The show is the brainchild of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, who are also the primary voice actors.

The show is about two female birds who are both friends and neighbors. It’s a comedy, therefore, viewers should go in expecting a few jokes here and there to keep them entertained. Now, we’ve come to understand that Haddish players Tuca, while Wong voices Bertie.

“In a lot of ways, it kind of does mirror us because Tiffany’s, like, out there and about and she’s fun and is not repressed, and I’m kind of a recluse and I’m a homebody,” Wong said in the teaser video. “I’m like the homebody person who is at home with my husband and my kids.”

The first trailer has definitely left a good impression, but only time will tell if it lives up to the current hype.

One should consider that there aren’t many feminist-related cartoons on Netflix, so if Tuca & Bertie becomes a huge success, the streaming platform could see an influx of new feminist content in the near and distant future.
