The Walt Disney Company finally lifted the lid on its highly anticipated streaming service, Disney+. At Investor Day, the House of Mouse offered a comprehensive breakdown of the content coming to Disney+ in its first year along with finally announcing a launch date and pricing details for the service. Disney+ will officially launch in the U.S. on November 12, 2019.
The Disney+ library will offer a mix of new and existing content from the company's various studios. This includes an extensive library of movies (Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, etc.), the entire Signature Collection, Marvel Studios' films and original series (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Marvel's What If...?), Star Wars animated and live-action shows (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), 5,000 episodes of Disney Channel content and 100 Disney Channel Original Movies, and more. A live-action adaptation of Lady and the Tramp, a Monsters, Inc. series, and a Frozen 2 making-of documentary are also coming.
Also available on day one will be all 30 seasons of The Simpsons, access to family-friendly Fox titles (The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride, and Malcolm in the Middle) as part of a collection of more than 7,500 television episodes and 500 films including blockbuster hits from 2019 and beyond.
So how much will access to this robust catalog of content cost? Not much, actually.
Disney+ will only cost $6.99 per month. Alternatively, you will be able to get an entire year's subscription to Disney+ for just $69.99, offering a slight discount over the monthly option.
