Last week, fans of the popular Pocket Monster series by Nintendo and Game Freak were ecstatic when the developers finally unveiled Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield during the long-awaited Pokémon Direct.

Soon after, some people made a parody logo of the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield simply called Pokémon Gun. The parody logo is actually a pretty convincing one, so much so that a newspaper ended up actually believing it was one of the recently announced titles.

The news comes from Twitter user Cin Ceja, who revealed that their local newspaper had included the Pokémon Gun logo in one of their last week's issues; making the whole Pokémon Gun meme even more of a meme.

That Pokémon Gun logo even has bullet holes in it, that alone was a huge red flag; one that could've been avoided by actually watching the 7-minute-long Pokémon Direct. This really is a great time to be alive.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.
