Warner Bros.' new Space Jam movie starring NBA superstar LeBron James will officially hit theaters in summer 2021. The announcement was made on social media by James' SpringHill Entertainment which sent out the save the date for July 21, 2021.

Interestingly, the accompanying image shared with the announcement had the title Space Jam 2. This would suggest the upcoming film is a sequel to the 1996 movie that featured NBA legend Michael Jordan. But as it was previously reported, LeBron James' version will "not be considered a sequel."
Space Jam 2 is being directed by Terence Nance (Random Acts of Flyness) with Black Panther writer and director Ryan Coogler signed on as a producer. Obviously, LeBron James will star alongside a cast of beloved Looney Tunes, including Bugs and Lola Bunny. It's quite likely we'll see a handful of cameos from other NBA stars as well.

Plot details remain under wraps, but LeBron James previously said it would be "so much bigger than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together."

"I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams,"
James said.

Filming on Space Jam 2 is slated for this summer. How do you feel about this upcoming reboot/remake?
